About us

We are MatrioSky, a team of friends from 2SLO IB in Warsaw who became interested in the CanSat competition and decided to take part together. A CanSat is a miniature satellite packed into a soda-can-sized body that is launched, deployed, and recovered while collecting real data.

The mission

Two missions: one that studies the atmosphere, and one of our own design that could make rescues faster.

Primary mission

Atmospheric measurements

We measure pressure, temperature and humidity at different altitudes. The readings show atmospheric conditions and tell us which phase of the flight we are in (descent, landing). Data is sent to the ground station by radio and saved to an SD card.

Secondary mission

Search and rescue

Our original idea: the main CanSat, the “Mother-Sat”, deploys smaller “Mini-Sats”. A lost person who finds one presses its distress button, so rescuers can go straight to their location.

The Mother-Sat predicts each Mini-Sat’s position from its trajectory, using its own location and drift to account for wind.

How we measure success

1

Radio link with the satellite is established

2

Mini-Sats are deployed correctly

3

Predicted positions match the actual positions

Bonus goal: find a Mini-Sat and press its distress button to show the system works.

Progress

Our journey so far.

September 2026

Team formed

Our team formed when a group of friends came together and decided to take part in the competition to learn and have fun.

September – October 2026

PDR

The Preliminary Design Review (PDR) is where we write a document about our mission, team management, role allocation and schematics.

October 2026 – now

Design & prototyping

Our team found all the electronics to buy and checked them for compatibility and to make sure everything fits inside the satellite, while our 3D modelers started modeling our satellite and minisats.
